Know Your Rights

Am I free to choose the collision repair shop that performs my repairs?

YES!! As the owner of a vehicle damaged in an accident, you are free to choose the shop where you wish to have your vehicle repaired. If, for example, your car has been towed to a particular repair facility, you are under no obligation to choose that shop to complete repairs or refinishing work.

Am I required to obtain three estimates?

NO!! It is a common misconception that three separate estimates are mandatory for insurance repairs. It is not necessary to waste your time, or that of several shops getting multiple estimates. Simply select a repair facility that offers a lifetime warranty and then notify your insurance agent, broker or company.

Must I notify my insurance company before authorizing any repair work?

YES!! Do not give the "Go Ahead" to any repair work without notifying your insurance company or agent. Be sure to report the damage and explain where the vehicle can be inspected.

Does every collision repair shop guarantee its refinishing work?

NO!! Most collision shops guarantee their work to some degree. This may or may not include the paint job. Only quality collision repair and paint refinishing specialists offer the Glasurit® Warranty, backed by BASF. Ask your shop to clarify any points about guarantees that aren't readily understood.

Should I inspect the work before driving away?

YES!! It is your responsibility to ensure that the work done by the repair shop is satisfactory. Before driving away, be sure to follow these steps:

  • Check the appearance of the repaired area, both close-up and from a distance.

  • Examine the paint for colour match, texture and overspray.

  • Take a test drive to check for effectiveness of mechanical repairs.

  • Ensure that your vehicle is clean.

Can I expect my vehicle to be restored to its pre-accident condition?

YES!! Responsible auto insurance companies support your right to insist that your car, van or light truck is restored to its pre-accident condition. At a quality collision repair center such as Wolf Collision Ltd. you can be confident we will work to meet your expectations.
